Try Swedish in London
Learn the art of Swedish gastronomy with Gizzi Erskine.
Whether it’s food, drink or just living, the Swedish seem to hold the secret of how to do it in style. Now Londoners everywhere get the chance to ‘Try Swedish’ for themselves – with three days of master classes hosted by TV Chef Gizzi Erskine and BBC’s ‘Great British Bake Off’ 2010 winner Edd Kimber.
The master classes will be a culinary exploration around Sweden’s natural larder. Guests will enjoy cooking, tasting and learning about food and drink from Sweden’s most epicurean regions – West Sweden with Gothenburg, Skåne and Jämtland Härjedalen and learn directly from three experienced chefs and drinks experts from Sweden.
Gizzi Erskine will host master classes and take guests through a three course “Compass Menu” where they will cook and taste the very best of Sweden’s natural larder together with the amazing variety of beverages the country has to offer.
On Saturday, Edd Kimber’s Saturday baking sessions will focus on Fika with uber cool Swedish bakery Fabrique. Here, guests can immerse themselves in Swedish past time of Fika and learn the art of Swedish baking with the champion of the Great British Bake Off 2010 and the London’s finest Nordic baking specialists.
Sweden is one of the up & coming culinary regions of Europe thanks to its diverse climate and unique approach to food. One of the birth places of new Nordic cuisine, which is currently sweeping through Europe, it is rediscovering its culinary heritage, embracing old gastronomic traditions & ingredients but in a modern way resulting in authentic and accessible dishes with influences from all over the world. From Skåne wine, West Coast seafood to reindeer reared in Jämtland Härjedalen the classes will offer a unique insight into Swedish cooking and a fantastic opportunity to discover the true nature of this culinary gem.
